External Supervision and Mentoring

I am experienced in providing supervision to those working in the areas of suicide prevention and postvention, mental health and and other complex social health issues. I use a strengths-based, competency focused and collaborative approach to supervision and been providing supervision for over twenty years.

Having worked with those who have been affected suicide, I am acutely aware of the impact that such work can have on the practitioner both personally and professionally.

With extensive experience in designing, implementing and evaluating programmes and projects, mobilising communities for social action I am able to assist you to reflect on your work.

  • Challenges and opportunities in engaging with communities for suicide prevention and postvention
  • Complexity of suicide and developing programmes to address identified issues.
  • Emotional impact of  listening to stories of suicidal distress or bereavement by suicide and the potential for experiencing vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue or burnout.
Supervision is available by either face to face or by Skype.  Contact me to discuss the options and your supervision needs.
Throughout my career I have been fortunate to have access to mentors whose practical experience, wisdom and insights that have provided sound guidance and motivation.
Knowing the benefit of a mentor, I am passionate about providing mentorship to recent and not-so-recent suicide prevention / postvention or mental wellbeing practitioners. Having a mentor is particularly helpful when you are a sole practitioner.
If you want someone to:
  • act as sounding board
  • brainstorm options for a project
  • be a collaborative problem solver
  • motivate and encourage you
  • provide guidance and direction
  • explore professional development options,
then ontact me to discuss the options and your mentorship needs.
Mentorship is available by either face to face or by Skype
